Stirling's campus is regularly described as one of the most beautiful in the world, set in 300 acres at the foot of the Ochil Hills. It boasts its own loch and the Robert Adam-designed Airthrey Castle. Stirling, two miles away, is also pretty, with a castle and historical old town.
There are excellent facilities for sport – as you would expect from Scotland's university for sporting excellence – and a recently refurbished arts centre on campus. A significant proportion of the 11,511 students are from the local area, but there's a good representation of international students too. Stirling was the first university in the UK to introduce the semester system and is proud of the flexibility of its degrees. With no faculty boundaries, students can choose from one of the widest variety of subject combinations.
