Stirling Castle, Castle/Fort, Stirling
Considered by many to be the grandest of all Scotland's castles. The castle architecture is outstanding: the gatehouse and recently restored Great Hall of James IV, the marvellous renaissance palace of James V and the Chapel Royal of James VI. Medieval kitchens display an exhibition on life in the royal palace. A state-of-the-art audio guide is now available which offers a vivid insight into many aspects of the castle and the people and events which shaped it.

Old Town Jail, Historic House/Palace, Stirling
The jail was built in 1847, in line with reform measures. In season, actor-led tours take visitors through the preserved cells giving an insight into the life and times of a Victorian jail. At non-peak periods, the tour is enhanced by a 'wand' which gives a verbal description of the features of the jail. There are roof-top views via a glass-sided lift.
