John Forty's Court has its good points, it's a good distance from uni and there's easy access to get to the bus stop. And it ends there. To walk into town you have to walk under a dark underpass through the worst area of Stirling.
In 2008/09 students have been attacked, flats have been burgled and cars have been vandalised/broken into. There is a porter/concierge service however there is very little surveillance over the car park and porters are unlikely to help with any "landlord type duties".
The walls within the bedrooms are just whitewashed brick. Therefore bedrooms have a cell like feel. The ground floor flats are all subject to a damp/ mould problem. Black mould grows on the walls and under windows and the university is very lax in getting rid of this situation. There are also cracks in the bricks and in the walls; it really makes you wonder if John Forty's is a safe and sanitary place to live.
Electricity is another problem for students at John Forty's. It's a pay as you go electrical meter and hot water is a rarity. Electricity is extremely expensive.
Therefore, I wouldn't recommend John Forty's as a place to live.
