本周(2007-7-2), Stirling学生将有机会在Iona Crawford的辅导下成为新进时装设计师. 最近Iona Crawford在伦敦毕业时装周上就自己的设计举行了时装表演.
参加这次比赛的学生将结合苏格兰时装奖(Scottish Fashion Awards), 设计出反映苏格兰21世纪当代文化的作品.

The students are taking part in a competition in conjunction with the Scottish Fashion Awards; to design an outfit that will reflect Scottish contemporary culture in the 21st Century.
As a sponsor of these prestigious awards, Stirling Council is working to bring some of the glamour of the catwalk to the young people of
Iona, who has recently graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with first class honours and received a special award for innovative and outstanding use of Scottish fabrics, was only too happy to become involved in this project. "This has given me the opportunity to return to the place where my creative journey began and pass on some of my knowledge to the students. It gives me a tremendous feeling of satisfaction to be able to see them become enthused by the world of fashion and design, and their positive response to the competition,” said
Designs will be submitted in August and will be judged by a panel from the Scottish Fashion Awards.
Judges will include Brian Rennie, the ex-Creative Director of the international fashion house Escada. The judges will be looking for designs with a strong emphasis on creativity, innovation and ‘wearability’.
The winner will see their design come to life when their outfit will be made up and worn by one of the models on the evening of the awards. They will also be invited to attend the evening with two guests and will receive a £100 voucher from fashion chain USC.

There is friendly rivalry amongst the young fashion designers and many are looking forward to using this experience to learn new skills and as a platform to further their interest in fashion and design when they leave school. "This has been a fantastic opportunity to get noticed and possibly pursue a career in fashion,” said one student, while another said, I have enjoyed using the different colours and textures, and mixing the old designs with newer fashions and fabrics”.
